Welcome to Sonrise Sport Aviation of Tombstone, Arizona.
A big Thank You! to Tess and Sonny of Sonrise Sport Aviation at the Tombstone Arizona Airport. They sponsor the annual Wings and Spurs Fly-In and have offered a booth area to The Flights For Life airplane at their 2008 Fly-In on November 1st, free of charge. This year's Fly In will be at the same time as the Tombstone Western Festival, Oct 31st thru Nov. 2nd. Fly In for an very exciting weekend. Please use their link to the left for more information.
We have another new National sponsor!
Edward Jones Investments, Linda Staneart of the Douglas, Arizona office has pledged 10 cents per flight mile flown to the 2009 Airventure. This is our first pledge. Thank you Linda. You rock! We will be adding a direct link to her as soon as possible.
We have two new sponsors!
John Matthews of Southern Xair has pledged to donate $300.00 to The American Cancer Society for each Xair Aircraft we can help sell through The Flights For Life. So, if you are thinking of buying or building one of these outstanding aircraft, let us or John know. Please use the link to the left called " Xair Dealer" It will take you directly to John's site for information and lots of photos. Thank you John, very generous.
And, Lightspeed Aviation has donated a set of their noise canceling 30 3G headsets to The Flights For life airplane, a $550.00 value. They make an excellent group of aviation headsets and we are very grateful for their support. 1500 air miles in an open cockpit Xair gets a bit noisy. David Gustafson is our contact there and has really helped us with this. Please use the direct link button on the left for them. Thanks David, we can remove another item from our "wish list" and not have ask the controllers to repeat themselves anymore.
Kim and Kim Christian, Bisbee, Arizona.
We are ready for others!
Please e-mail:
christians49@netscape.com Or call us at 520-432-5244. If you would like to be a sponsor, your company will be given a link from our web site directly to your web site. Your company name will appear on the sponsor list and, if you wish, your name or emblem will be displayed on the aircraft.
We will get your name and contribution out there. Our Wish List.
We will continue to support The Flights For Life ourselves all the way to the final landing at Oshkosh and AirVenture in 2009 and the trip home. However, we could sure use some help in the way of pledges for the flight miles flown and in the form of equipment and gasoline donations to get there.
All equipment listed can be "loaned" to the flights and will be returned at the end of the flights if necessary.
We need:
Current sectionals to cover the route from Arizona to Oshkosh.
Disregard, we bought all the aircharts this week so we can start working on details.
A list of ultralight friendly airports on between here and there if such a list exists. It will after we finish the flight. We hope to cover 300 miles per day.
Sponsors to help with gasoline and injector oil costs. We are planning on a very rough figure of $800 to $900 (probably more by next year) and using as much auto gas as possible to reduce costs. We will pay for the return trip home as the plane will have to be broken down and trailered due to limited time off work.
Use of an enclosed 16 to 18 foot trailer to bring The Flights For Life plane home again.
A smaller, yoke or cowl mounted GPS to help find our way. I have a back-up handheld Garmin, but it has only the waypoints I put into it. Been lost, didn't enjoy it.
Please remember, we do not make a single penny from any part of this effort. Any company or persons donation or loaning equipment to support the flights will be thanked and listed on the website, if you wish. Companies and sponsors will have their logo or name placed on the aircraft pod for all to see, if you provide us with an adhesive one.
Thank you, Kim and Kim Christian, Bisbee, Arizona N349AZ
